Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 2026

Rent for Friends works because every member is vouched for by someone who already belongs. That trust is the whole point — it is what lets you stay in a stranger's home and feel like you are staying with a friend. These guidelines exist to protect it. By joining, you agree to hold to them.

1. Be who you say you are

Use your real name, a genuine photo, and accurate details. Never create an account on someone else's behalf or misrepresent who you are. Members vouch for real people, not profiles.

2. Vouch honestly

Only vouch for people you actually know and would trust in your own home. A vouch is your word to the community. Vouching for someone you don't know, or in exchange for anything, undermines the network and may result in both accounts being removed.

3. Treat homes with respect

Guests: leave a home as you found it, follow any house rules, and communicate openly with your host. Hosts: describe your space honestly, keep it clean and safe, and welcome guests as you would a friend of a friend.

4. Communicate with care

Be prompt, clear, and kind in your messages. Keep conversations and payments on the Platform so that everyone stays protected. Harassment, discrimination, and abusive language have no place here.

5. Respect privacy

What you learn about a member — their home, their movements, their contact details — stays between you. Never share another member's information or photograph their home without permission.

6. Keep it safe and lawful

No illegal activity, no unsafe behaviour, and no using a home for anything the host hasn't agreed to. Parties, subletting, and commercial use require the host's explicit consent.

7. Protect the network

Don't sell, trade, or publicly post invite codes, and don't try to route around the referral system. The value of Rent for Friends is that everyone got here the same way — through someone who already belongs.

8. When things go wrong

If a member makes you feel unsafe or breaks these guidelines, tell us. We review every report and may warn, suspend, or remove members who put the community at risk. Membership is a privilege we can revoke to keep everyone safe.
